Philosophy of Teaching Bible
Elementary
We have adopted the “Children Desiring God” curriculum from Bethlehem Baptist Church, located in Minnesota, USA. Therefore, we also adhere to their beliefs about the process of educating children in the Word, which follows below:
1. Impart the Truth
* Acquaint children with the whole Bible
* Present the Bible as a revelation of the character and work (purposes) of God.
* Encourage children to develop a Biblical mindset and a Christian worldview.
2. Encourage Faith
* Encourage children to trust in the character and promises of God.
* Lead children to recognize their sinful state and to respond in repentance.
* Cultivate a love for the Word and a habit of interacting and responding in faith and obedience to the Word.
* Present the Gospel message of salvation through Christ alone during every school year.
3. Lead Children to Actively Participate in the Purposes of God
* Help children to see the hand of God at work in this world.
* Encourage children to recognize and use their spiritual gifts for the good of the school community and the world. Provide opportunities for students to practice our value of servant leadership.
High School
The high school, comprising grades 8 – 12 for the purpose of Bible instruction, has chosen curricula from Positive Action, LLC of North Carolina, USA. We believe that students are going through many changes while in these formative five years. Not only are physical changes occurring, but also the cognitive processes of their minds. They are beginning, if they have not already, to question their worldview, who God is, why should they believe in Him, and what they are going to do with their life. It is because of this that we believe the Bible curriculum is imperative to their development.
As such, we believe that first and foremost the salvation of each student is of primary importance. We believe salvation to be from God alone, through faith alone, and by grace alone. We believe that admittance of sin, believing in what Jesus did on the cross for that sin, and confession of Jesus as savior are the makeup to the salvation message.
We believe the Hebrew/Greek/Aramaic Protestant Bible to be the complete, without error, and wholly inspired by God Himself Word by which we form our beliefs of who God is, salvation, end times, and other doctrines.
Our curriculum focuses on the Bible as a whole, and then on spiritual development, Christ-like leadership, wisdom, and living the changed life. As a student finishes their high school career, they will have learned not only about the Bible generally, but about their spiritual condition and life specifically.
